This was a project I created for myself. I wanted to create a print design that was less text-focused, and more colour and visual focused. I chose to demonstrate this through the printed design of postcards.

The purpose of this project is to showcase graphic design elements and techniques.

The project began by deciding an overall topic theme for the postcard set. Since it was a set, it had to be something I could find many images for that were eye-catching in some way.

Personally, I like seeing the beautiful colours of the skies and clouds, so I decided to make that the main focus of the project. Postcards are something you send when you’re far away from the other person, but the sky is something that connects us and we can see it wherever we are in the world. 

So after deciding on the main visual aspect, I then began looking for commercial-use free images to use that were striking and visually pleasing. I wanted to show the many colours of the sky and ended up creating 14 different postcards, each numbered separately on the bottom corner.

I also added circular colour-samples at the bottom corner of each postcard to add more highlight to the colours in every photo, showing off the 4 main colour-points.

For the backside, I kept the design simple as with most postcards, with several lines to write a short message, and a section to put a photo, etc. I also added a spot for the postal stamp to be placed.
